University of Alabama (B.S. 1970, J.D. 1973)

JJimmy was born and raised in Athens, Alabama. He graduated from the University of Alabama with honors in 1970, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting Major). He then received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1973. He was commissioned as an officer through ROTC at the University of Alabama and served as an officer in the United States Army (1973-1974).

Being active in his community, he is a past member of the Athens City Board of Education, having served as President of that Board. He also was a twenty-five year member of Rotary, having served as President and having been chosen as a Paul Harris Fellow. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Athens and has served on numerous church committees.

Jimmy and his firm have been involved in numerous multi-million dollar settlements and verdicts, including what was at the time the largest personal injury verdict in the history of the State of Alabama.

Jimmy is married to the former Pam Shelton of Fayetteville, Tennessee. He has one son who is a critical care surgeon in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and two step-children who graduated from the University of Alabama.

Mr. Corder’s primary area of practice is in the area of personal injury, including but not limited to negligence, products liability, bad faith, fraud and worker’s compensation. The firm has additionally participated in numerous class action lawsuits.
